- Arisaka Type 38 Carbine chambered in 6.5×50 Arisaka. Manufactured sometime in the mid-1930s by Nagoya Arsenal in central Japan.
- The Type 38-series of Arisaka rifles were designed by Arisaka Nariakira and Kijirō Nambu of the Imperial Japanese Army and were introduced into service in 1906 as a replacement for the earlier Type 30 Arisaka following the Russo-Japanese War. The changes made included the addition of a dust cover, reducing the number of parts in the rifle's bolt as well as simplifying its disassembly process. The final result was a rifle frequently referred to as having one of the strongest actions ever seen at the time. The Type 38 Carbine was issued primarily to cavalry, engineers and additional support personnel in the Imperial Japanese Army, and remained in service from 1906-1945.
- This particular rifle was manufactured by Nagoya Arsenal in the mid-1930s according to the Nagoya arsenal mark and Japanese kana stamped on the left-hand side of the reciever. It also still has its original dust cover, and an intact Chrysanthemum on its reciever, a very rare combination to find on Japanese service rifles. It is however missing its cleaning rod, but does have maching serial numbers present on its bayonet lug, bolt, and reciever indicating that the rifle is all matching.
