A Second World War-production Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) No. 1 Mk III* rifle manufactured by Lithgow Small Arms Factory in 1945. This is one of an estimated 38,000 rifles made by Lithgow SAF in 1945, with the post-1926 Lithgow manufacturer's stamp of 'MA Lithgow SMLE III* 1944' stamped on the receiver beneath the bolt handle.
The rifle's action is stamped 'DP' indicating that it was at some point phased out of active service and used for drill purposes.
