- A German Gewehr 98 manufactured in 1916 by Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) at their factory in Berlin. As such, the receiver is stamped with the text "Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Berlin" with the manufacture date of "1916" stamped below it.
- This rifle was manufactured by DWM as part of a contract for the Imperial German Army during the First World War. As the war waged on, the German government was forced to turn to private contractors like DWM, Mauser, C. G. Haenel, and Simpson Suhl to fill the gaps left by government-owned arsenal production. As such, it represents a very nice example of mid-war Gewehr 98 production.
- The rifle appears to be almost entirely matching, apart from the bolt and bolt release. The rifle's metalwork is in good condition, with only some minor fading to the finish. It is also missing the cleaning rod. The walnut stock is also in great condition, with a beautiful tiger stripe/fiddleback pattern present through the entire length of the main piece. Additionally, the barrel is in good condition with crisp and strong rifling but some pitting present towards the muzzle-end.
