Greener between 1909-1949, with the left-hand side of the receiver stamped "Made By The Birmingham Small Arms Co. Ltd Trade Mark B.S.A." and the right-hand side stamped "Commonwealth of Australia."
This rifle was issued in New South Wales, as the butt stock bears the text "N.S.W R.A.N.R." indicating that it served with the Royal Australian Naval Reserve in New South Wales. The "C.M.F 2.M.D" and"NSW" stamps present on the butt stock and receiver support this by confirming it was allocated to the 2nd Military District of the Citizen Military Forces in New South Wales.
